SAMUEL LEONARD JOSEPH MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND (Sam's Fund)

The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving offers dozens of scholarships for students across Greater Hartford. The Foundation has scholarships for 4-year, 2-year, graduate and vocational students, as well as adult learners. To be connected with scholarships that match your interests, students are required to fill out the universal application, which may be found at https://www.hfpgscholarships.org/.

Applying for a scholarship can be a time-consuming process. The scholarship website allows students to preview the scholarships available before taking time to fill out the universal application, visit https://www.hfpgscholarships.org. Then scroll down to access the link to the Universal Application which must also be completed.

To be eligible to apply, students must:

  • Be graduating seniors from the William H. Hall High School or Conard High School in West Hartford, CT

    • Be entering a 2 or 4-year college, or vocational/trade school, and pursuing an undergraduate degree on a full-time basis.

    • Have achieved academic success in high school (maintaining a 2.0 GPA or higher); have shown an upward trend in his or her grades and show promise of continued academic achievement at the college level.

    • Need financial aid in order to attend college.

    • Have overcome special life circumstances, e.g., emotional, physical or other.

    • Have been involved with volunteer, community service, and/or extracurricular activities.
